Power Distribution is a system, consisting of a Power Control Centers (PCC), Motor Control Centers (MCC) and Power Distribution Boards (PDB), by which the electrical energy is transmitted via branches to reach the exact end user.
A PCC is a panel or enclosure that houses the fuses, circuit breakers and ground leakage protection units where the electrical energy, which is used to distribute electrical power to numerous individual circuits or consumer points, is taken in from the transformer or generators.
Motor control centers are simply physical groupings of combination starters in one assembly A PCC typically has a single or multiple incoming power sources and includes main circuit breakers and residual current or earth leakage protection devices. A PCC is comprised of a free-standing enclosure, a bus bar system, MCCB's, metering and support equipments. Panels are assembled in a systematic manner such as incomer section and outgoing section.
The MCC feeds the Power Distribution Board, which then feeds electrical energy to various other small loads like Utility, Lighting etc.
Capacitor Banks improve the power factor by adding capacitive reactance in steps as per the power factor Automatic Power factor controller (APFC) constantly monitors the load (and power factor) of the system on LV Panel and switch on/ off the capacitor steps to maintain the system power factor to the set value.
